Intervention on a large mail art envelope, mailed to BAR LE FELLINI in Brussels.
The Fellini bar is a cocktail bar and pool café right in my neighborhood. The bar is decorated with posters of Fellini movies. I didn't see "Juliet of the spirits" (a movie on sexual obsessions, so maybe a bit too controversial). So I decided to make a tribute and mail it to the bar (hihi).
My mail art activities have since the early start been inspired and influenced by what Guy Bleus in Belgium defends as mail art. Do not send mail art only to mail artists, but send mail art to friends, people you know, people you don't know, random mail art. I've picked people blindly from the phonebook. I've put mail art in balloons. I've send mail art to public places; not cultural centers but bars and restaurants, even abroad, like the PARROT bar in Glasgow on the theme of parrots of course. With the current stalking laws my advise is to do this only "once"...
In my mail art database on Belgium I have 250 addresses, maybe 20 of them are mail artists. I'll visit the Fellini bar again with my bro' Dirk who's an excellent pool player and I'm curious to see what they did or did not do with the envelope!
