INNER PRISONS are a serial of interventions on mail art envelopes.
I see paranoia for instance as the result of building our own inner prison facing an outside world.
Artists are quite vulnerable on that level. They develop a strong inner world of feelings and reflections and actions and often loose touch with the outside reality, conceived as unreal and menacing or crazy even.
It's easier to see this problem in artist friends than in yourself while in fact the same struggle is happening in your own life, the same tensions, the same disorders.
This first painting (a mix af acryl paint, ink and watercolors) was made for Edith Van Hoef, aka Editfrog, a former Belgian mail artist and feminist.
